Pacific Standard Time

April 25, 2019

River North residents Jonathan Amarilio and Bridget Eastman take Jacqui and Trish to their favorite restaurant, Pacific Standard Time. The California-inspired restaurant has been a Chicago favorite since opening just over a year ago, in April 2018. In that time, PST has made nearly every short list for Chicago foodies, including being the only Chicago restaurant that appeared on 2018’s Eater National Best New Restaurants of 2018 and being named as a 2019 Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant. The restaurant’s website can be found here, and you can check out the pictures of the food we ordered at the Chicago Dish Instagram page here.

Lakeview resident and American Bar Association Division Director Emily Roschek takes Jacqui and Trish to Chicago mainstay, Chicago Pizza and Oven Grinder Co. The Lincoln Park restaurant has been in the same brick building since 1972 where it has gained fame near and far for its pizza pot pies and oven grinders. The historic location famously sits near the site of the St. Valentine’s Day massacre, in one of Chicago’s most popular neighborhoods. Although the menu choices are limited, this restaurant never fails to draw a strong crowd. The restaurant’s website can be found here, and you can check out the pictures of the food we ordered at the Chicago Dish Instagram page here.

River North resident and meeting and events manager Lisa Zimmer joins the hosts to dine at one of her favorite restaurants, Little Goat.   The West Loop restaurant is helmed by Chicago native, Michigan Wolverine, and restaurant queen Stephanie Izard. Izard’s current Chicago restaurants include, among others, Little Goat, Girl & the Goat, and the newest addition, Duck Duck Goat. Izard has racked up a number of awards in her career, including the Beard award for Best Chef Great Lakes 2013 and being named as one of Food & Wine’s 2010 Best New Chefs. Little Goat is the low-key diner in this group, but maintains many trademark-Izard qualities. Lakeview resident Meghan MacNaughton joins the hosts to dine at one of her favorite restaurants, The Bristol.   The Bucktown restaurant serves American food with a focus on eclectic menus that include handmade pasta, charcuteries, fresh produce, and as they describe it, a “nose-to-tail approach to cooking.” Chicago Magazine has said that The Bristol also has one of the best brunches in Chicago, and in 2016, the restaurant was included on Michelin’s Bib Gourmand list.

Located on Damen Avenue, The Bristol has the feel of a gastropub but with food that has had Chicagoans buzzing for years. The restaurant’s website can be found here, and you can check out the pictures of the food we ordered at the Chicago Dish Instagram page here.

The show’s first guest, Maia Feigon, joins the hosts to dine at her favorite restaurant, Pasta al Gusto. An unassuming BYOB neighborhood joint located near the Music Box Theatre, Pasta al Gusto is the type of place you might walk by a hundred times before wandering inside. Listen in to learn why that would be a mistake.

Located on the north end of the Southport Corridor, Pasta al Gusto has been a mainstay in Lakeview for years. After originally being on Belmont, Pasta al Gusto moved to its current location about five years ago. The restaurant’s website can be found here, and you can check out the pictures of the food we ordered at the Chicago Dish Instagram page here.

Honey Butter Fried Chicken

Honey Butter Fried Chicken

January 17, 2019
In their opening episode, Jacqui and Trish take some of their closest friends to a new Chicago favorite, Honey Butter Fried Chicken.  There’s no hiding the ball on this episode – everyone loves this place, and for good reason.  HBFC makes good food, and make it consistently.  You can scope out the restaurant’s website here, and you can check out the pictures of the food we ordered at the Chicago Dish Instagram page here.

Located in Chicago’s Avondale neighborhood, HBFC showed up in 2013 and the Chicago food scene immediately sat up and took notice of this restaurant who decided to convince Chicagoans that they’d been eating fried chicken wrong.  Well, needless to say, they succeeded and the restaurant’s fans have been slathering whipped honey butter on their fried chicken ever since.
